Frequently Asked Questions:

bulletWhich Louisiana public campuses are closed until further notice due to Hurricane Katrina?

Ø     SUNO, UNO, Delgado CC, Nunez CC, LSU Health Sciences Center, and the following campuses of the LTC: Sidney Collier, Slidell, West Jefferson and Jefferson.

bulletMy home campus is not listed above but is closed. How will I know when it will open?

Ø     The best source is that institution’s website. Links to all Louisiana public institutions are available at www.regents.state.la.us/school.htm.

bulletWill my TOPS award transfer to another Louisiana public college or university for this semester?

Ø     Yes, if you are an eligible student enrolled in an eligible institution, you will receive your TOPS award. Contact information for TOPS is www.osfa.state.la.us, or 1-800-259-5626, ext. 1012.

bulletIf I decide to enroll in another institution, how do I know if a school can accommodate me?

Ø     Your first step is to call the admissions office of the institution in which you are interested as soon as possible. Contact information is available on the Board of Regents website, www.regents.state.la.us/school.htm

bulletIf I decide to enroll in another public institution, what fees will I have to pay?

Ø     Students may enroll in another Louisiana public college or university for which that student is eligible without paying additional tuition or mandatory fees.

bulletWhat will happen if I choose to sit out this semester at an affected institution?

Ø     If you are receiving TOPS, your award will not be adversely affected. You will ultimately be reimbursed for tuition and fees already paid to that public institution.

bulletI paid for additional services such as a meal plan and room and board at a hurricane affected university. Will I get a refund?

Ø     Yes, a refund will ultimately be issued if you choose to sit out the semester.
